Here comes another slot game with “book of” in its title, and we all know what that means! This time, the company behind the slot is Booming Games, and its Book of Tombs takes you guess where? To Ancient Egypt, of course. So, Book of Tombs is yet another clone of the iconic Novomatic title Book of Ra and shares most of its features with the original game. It uses 5 reels and 10 paylines with its only bonuses feature being free spins with a special expanding symbol. The slot pays up to 5,000x the bet.
Once you load the game, you will find yourself within a pyramid, with two massive pillars flanking the reels on either side. Symbols are designed in bright colours, contrasting the brownish reels. They include theme-related icons depicted as the explorer, Anubis, the pharaoh and a golden urn. The rest of the positions are filled by generic playing card royals. The only special symbol in the base game is the Book that acts as Wild and Scatter at the same time.
To play the game, you will have to wager between $10 and $75 per spin. Just pick the amount that suits you best and you are good to go. If you don’t feel like spinning the reels manually, you can activate up to 1,000 autospins or let them spin indefinitely until you stop them. To win a prize, you will have to land at least 3 matching symbols on a payline left to right. After each win, you can use the Gamble feature and try to double or quadruple your payouts by guessing the colour or suit of a hidden card.
The Book will complete your winning combos. If you land 3 or more of these, you will enter free spins. Initially, you will get 8 freebies, but whenever 3 Scatter appear within the feature, you are granted 8 extra free games without limits. Before free spins start, one of the icons will be selected at random to act as an expanding symbol that can create wins on its own regardless of its position. Book Wild/Scatter cannot be chosen as an expanding symbol. Every time the feature is triggered, a new expanding symbol can be selected, so a maximum of 9 expanding symbols are possible.
It may be one of the latest slots, released at the beginning of January 2021, but there is nothing innovative about it. Book of Tombs is a mediocre title, offering all the features we have already seen dozens of times. If you like classic slots, this one may fit the bill. Bear in mind that the Booming Games title is a high volatility slot that can pay up to 5,000x the stake. Its RTP is a bit below the industry average though, sitting at 95.42%.
